HAVE AN EMERGENCY?

If your pet suffers an emergency illness or injury, rest assured that we are able to provide rapid pain relief, diagnosis, and treatment for them.

Health Care Services

GENERAL HEALTH CARE

At Beach and Bay Vet, we recommend regular health checks for your pet to give them the best care throughout all stages of their life. Not only do we love seeing them and having some cuddles, but this is a great time to proactively spot any changes that aren’t always so obvious to an owner who sees them every day.

PARASITE PREVENTION

We strongly advise that all dogs and cats on the Central Coast are regularly given effective products to prevent Paralysis ticks, Fleas, Gastrointestinal worms, including roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm, and Heartworm (optional for cats due to their naturally-lower risk).

PET NUTRITION

A high quality diet is so important for maintaining your pet’s general health throughout all stages of their life. Please ask one of our lovely vets or nurses for professional advice on the best nutrition for your individual pet’s requirements.

PUPPY SCHOOL

While there’s is much joy that accompanies the arrival of a new puppy into your family, it’s important to remember that a little bit of help and support goes a long way. We know puppies don’t come with an instruction book, so please contact us for more information about our in-clinic puppy school.

PET ACUPUNCTURE

Dr Marks has completed further training in acupuncture and alternative medicine for animals having received her IVAS certification. Dr Marks is able to provide tailored consultations and treatment options for patients for whom acupuncture would benefit, including animals suffering from arthritis and other muscle injuries, internal medical issues and behavioural concerns.

VACCINATIONS

Here at Beach and Bay Vet, we can’t overstate the importance of an appropriate vaccination schedule for your pet’s safety and wellbeing.

On the Central Coast, we intermittently see cases of the diseases against which we vaccinate, with the vast majority occurring in improperly vaccinated pets.

DERMATOLOGY

Episodes of itchy skin and sore ears are two of the most common reasons people bring their dogs and cats to see us. It can be frustrating to see your pet so uncomfortable, especially if these episodes keep recurring. There are multiple reasons for these symptoms to occur, and we love doing the veterinary detective work to help get you an answer, and have your pet feeling comfortable and happy again as soon as possible.

Surgical Services

DESEXING

Desexing involves surgically removing some of your pet’s internal reproductive organs – testicles for male dogs and cats, and uterus and ovaries for females.

If you don’t seriously wish to breed from your dog or cat, we recommend desexing them. This will prevent accidental pregnancies, which can carry health risks for the female and the pups.

ORTHOPAEDICS

Orthopaedics is the repair of bone and joint abnormalities or injuries. Orthopaedics can be required with some developmental issues, such as patellar luxation (loose kneecaps), or after injuries such as cruciate ligament damage or broken bones.

PET DENTISTRY

Good dental health is very important, not only for your pet’s quality of life and comfort, but also for general health. Same as in people, pet dental disease can have negative effects on other organs, including the kidneys and heart, due to potential for bacteria to enter the bloodstream from an infected mouth.

Diagnostic Services

DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING

Diagnostic imaging modalities such as radiology (X-ray) and ultrasound are great tools for assessment of so many internal diseases or injuries. Luckily for your pet, we’re well-equipped with both, meaning that we can perform a thorough investigation of your pet on-site.

PATHOLOGY

Veterinary pathology involves the study of body tissues and fluids (such as blood and urine) to determine what disease process or illness is affecting an unwell pet. Beach and Bay Vet is proud to have some of the most up-to-date and efficient in-house pathology equipment, so we can perform many of the common blood, urine, ear, skin and faecal tests on-site.
